Senior year is full of emotions. Excitement, disbelief, maybe a few tears (yep, you’re not alone)—and somewhere in the middle of it all, you’re booking senior photos.


As a parent, you’ve been there for every milestone up to this one. First steps, kindergarten drop-off, middle school awkward phases… and now, graduation. Senior photos are more than just pictures—they’re a celebration of who your child is right now and everything they’ve become.


So let’s talk about what to expect, how you can help them prepare, and why these photos are such a meaningful part of this season.

What to Expect from a Senior Session

When your senior books a session with me, we’re not just showing up and snapping photos. It’s a full experience—laid-back, fun, and personalized to them. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Pre-session planning: We’ll talk about outfits, location options, and their vision for the shoot. (Don’t worry, I guide them every step of the way!)
  • The session itself: I’ll coach them through poses, help them relax, and make sure their personality shines through.
  • You’re welcome to join! Whether you want to tag along for behind-the-scenes moments or give them space to do their thing, I’m totally flexible.
  • Gallery delivery: After editing, you’ll receive a curated online gallery full of images that celebrate this moment—and a few that might bring on those happy tears.


How You Can Help

Senior photos are all about them—but you play a big role in making sure it goes smoothly. Here’s how you can be the MVP of photo day:

  • Help with outfit planning: Offer input (gently!) if they want help choosing what to wear. Neutrals, layers, and clothes they feel good in are key.
  • Encourage them to be themselves: Whether they’re sporty, artsy, quiet, or outgoing—their session should reflect them, not a version of who they “should” be.
  • Bring the essentials: A hairbrush, backup outfits, blotting paper, or even water and snacks can be lifesavers on shoot day.
  • Cheer them on: Being photographed can feel vulnerable—having your support and encouragement can make all the difference.

This season flies by. And while phones are great for everyday memories, senior photos freeze this chapter in time with intention, artistry, and heart.
