One of my favorite things about senior sessions is getting to create images that actually feel like the person I’m photographing. Senior pictures don’t have to fit into one specific style, and Gryffin’s session was the perfect example of that. We incorporated natural greenery, a little bit of football, his truck, and several different outfits to create a gallery that feels completely like him.

For his senior session, we started out at Dogtown, where we were able to take advantage of the natural greenery and the beautiful tree tunnel. There is something about photographing in a setting like this that gives senior pictures such a timeless feel. The trees create depth and texture in the background while still keeping the focus on the senior, and it gave us plenty of variety without having to go far.

A Senior Session with Plenty of Variety

For Gryffin's outfits, he brought a dressier shirt, a more casual shirt, and his football jerseys. I always love when seniors bring a few different styles because it allows us to create a gallery that feels like several different sides of their personality rather than a collection of photos that all look the same.

We started with his more polished look before switching things up with something casual. That little change in style can make such a difference in a senior gallery. One outfit might give you that clean, classic senior portrait, while another feels more relaxed and everyday. Together, they tell a much better story of who you are during this season of life.

And then, of course, came the football jerseys!

Senior Football Pictures at PBL

Since football is such an important part of Gryffin’s high school experience, there was no question that we needed to include it in his senior pictures. We headed over to the PBL football field and incorporated his jerseys into the session.

I absolutely love when seniors bring the things they spend so much of their time doing into their photos. Sports, instruments, vehicles, hobbies, clubs, and even favorite places can all become part of the session. Those details are what make senior pictures personal instead of just pretty.

The football field also gave us a completely different backdrop from Dogtown. Instead of trees and greenery, we had the field, bleachers, and all of the details that immediately connected the images to Gryffin’s football experience at PBL.

And Yes, We Had to Include the Truck

Gryffin also wanted to incorporate his truck into his senior pictures, and I was completely on board with that idea.

Vehicles can be such a fun addition to a senior session, especially when they are something the senior genuinely enjoys or feels connected to. We were able to use his truck in several different photos, giving the gallery another element that felt personal to him.

This is one of the reasons I love planning senior sessions individually with each of my seniors. There isn't a checklist of things every senior has to bring or a specific formula that every session follows. We can take the things that matter to you and figure out how to turn them into photographs that feel natural, creative, and completely yours.

Making Senior Pictures Feel Like You

Gryffin’s session had a little bit of everything: natural outdoor portraits at Dogtown, different outfit styles, football photos at PBL, and his truck worked into the gallery. The result was a collection of senior pictures with plenty of variety while still feeling cohesive.

That is always my goal with senior photography. I want you to look back at your images years from now and remember more than what you were wearing or what your hair looked like. I want you to remember the things you loved, the activities that filled your time, and the version of yourself you were right then.

For seniors looking for senior photo ideas in Central Illinois, this is exactly the kind of session I love creating. We can find beautiful natural locations, incorporate sports or hobbies, bring along something meaningful, and build a session around YOU.

Because your senior pictures shouldn't look like everyone else's. They should look like you.
